MTC as Basic Training

I had a roommate in the MTC who was constantly comparing the MTC to his stint in the army. That's probably why he liked the MTC so much.

LDS Coloring Book Now at the iTunes App Store

Until a couple of LDS guys invented WordPerfect the general public didn't really have much use for a personal computer. WordPerfect was a "killer app" that made the personal computer a must have.

Now some more LDS folks have invented the "killer app" for the iPhone and iPad. The good people at LDS Mobile Apps have introduced the LDS Coloring Book app.

I was fortunate enough to play some small part in this product. Along with the incredible Dani Jones (she's an Illustrator with a capital "I"), I provide the illustrations for the coloring book.

I've had the opportunity to play with a beta version of the app for the past couple of weeks and I'll tell you, it's definitely worth the $2.99 $1.99 asking price. Coloring on the app is extremely intuitive and everything functions beautifully--just ask my children. (The arts not bad, either.)

The Danger of Doing Laundry with Your Companion

This one is based on a true story.

When I entered the MTC, my companion and I decided it would be a good idea to do laundry together. That way we'd save a little money. The first week we shared the washer and drier, the fuzzy towel his girlfriend sent with him left little, fuzzy balls all over my socks--his were find, mind you. I spent half of my P-Day picking the fuzz off of my socks (you can tell I was new because within a couple of months, I just would have worn them--fuzz and all).

Shortly after that first laundry day, my companion began to complain about a lost fountain pen his girlfriend had given him. Sure enough, we found it after we took our whites out of the drier the next week. Strangely, all the large ink marks could be found on my whites, while my companions clothes suffered relatively no damage.

After that, we I decided to do laundry separately. The story ends happily as my companion's girlfriend waited for him and they were married shortly after he returned from his mission. As for me, I got a gag out of it.

Nursery Snack Time!

Today's gag comes from faithful reader Jena L. who writes concerning the phenomenon of Dads showing up for nursery snack time, "It happens all the time in nursery. I know because I've had the calling three separate times."

I'm shocked. I've had children in and out of nursery for almost a decade and I never knew that this was so much as an option. I've been such an idiot.

Oh, and kudos for Jena for keeping the faith despite being called to nursery three times--I know something like that would shake my testimony.

Teaching at the MTC: A Labor of Love?

It's Labor Day, which used to signify the start of the school year. (Where we're at, school's already been in session for half a month.) To celebrate, I'm rolling out another month's worth of MTC strips.
