What's in a Name?

Before I ever publish a gag on this website, it has to go through quality control. My wife is the final stay on what is or isn't blog worthy. Take today's gag, for example. When I tried this one out on her, it provoked a large groan. That was exactly what I was going for!

UPDATE: It looks like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir might be getting a new name after all. Not since I made a joke about the Enrichment program and the Church immediately renamed it has one of my gags been so timely.

  1. Ah, a large groan: Often the sign of a good joke.
    I know it well.

    1. More often the sign of a lame joke. Which I know well.

    2. I don't think so. Millions laugh at dirty humor yet groan when a good, clean pun is said. Society has trained us to think the worst of some of our best humor. If a good joke is spoken in a forest and nobody laughs or groans or falls over, it's still a good joke.

That's not to say you don't have the occasional "lame comic". This comic is not lame because the timing made it "irrelevant". Sometimes a comic seen from a different point of view becomes something worthwhile.

Matthew 5:10: Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake.

Substitute "good humor" in there, and I think you'll find that a groan can actually be a testimony that you're on the right track.

    1. I've been considering a name change to this website. You might be on to something here.
