I spent the last month of my mission working out of the mission home. (Have I ever mentioned that this strip is very, very loosely based on my own mission experiences?) It was the best thing for preparing to return home to my own family.

Letter to the President

Missionaries are required to correspond with their Mission President once a week. In my day, we wrote a letter and mailed it to him. Today, missionaries email the Mission President on P-Day. Once again, we're looking at a strip that doesn't apply to missionary work in 2019. To save time, I'm going to start commenting on my missionary strips that are still applicable today.

The Mission President

I was always proud of the Mission President character I created for my missionary comic strip. The agitated, harried (and hairless) President captured just the right characteristics of your prototypical Mission President.

My cartoonist friend, Kevin Beckstrom has created a Mission President, though, that blows mine out of the water. If you haven't been following his daily blog, The Beckstrom Buzz, you owe it to yourself to check out his series of Mission President gags. They are my favorite thing he's ever done--and that's saying something. (And check out the temple photo behind the President's desk, it's a small bit of inspired genius.)
