Amish?

We got this a lot on my mission. The story goes that the Yugoslavian television station when dubbing Witness replaced Amish with Mormons in their subtitles years prior to my mission.

  1. This one's pretty funny. I like the fact that the man is at least culturally sensitive to the Mormons' unusual lifestyle.

  2. I think the combination of confusion with the other companion's comments is the funniest part about this. :) We actually got some of the Amish confusion on my mission in Pennsylvania too.

  3. I love the other companion's comments too. I was always surprised if anyone had heard of "mormon" anyway, but when I found out about the movie, it made more sense.

  4. Wendi, you would think the folks in Pennsylvania would have seen enough Amish to know the difference. Your Mission President didn't require his Sister missionaries to wear bonnets, did he?

  5. No bonnets, but I did have to ride a bike in a dress for 8 months... :)

  6. In Austria an older woman with long hair and a long skirt come up to me and my companion once and remarked that she, too, followed Paul's counsel that women should only wear long skirts. I caught her looking with disapproval at our short(er) hair.
