Wrinkle-free Shirts Part Three

This is the last of the wrinkle-free strips. Starting next week: a seven-part series on shoe shining.

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm going to have to make this short as I've got a flag football game I've got to get to. Meanwhile my wife and the other women in the family are slaving away preparing dinner.

Is Thanksgiving great or what?

Wrinkle-free Shirts Part Two

I drew over 500 of these missionary comic strips and the only times you see Elder Van Dyke wearing a watch is in the strips where he needs to check it to indicate that his companion is late. It's awfully convenient that on the days he'd need it, he'd put on his watch.

Ten years ago when I drew these strips, missionaries had to wear watches to make sure they were always on schedule. Now days, I imagine they do what the rest of us do: forgo a watch and just check their cell phones.

Moroni's Trump

I bet you Moroni's grateful that his dad insisted he learn a brass instrument and not a percussion like he wanted.

Wrinkle-free Shirts

I remember the day on my mission when the starch in my wrinkle-free shirts gave up the ghost. It was zone conference and my Mission President's wife gave me a chewing out. Up until that point (about a year into my mission), I hadn't had to touch an iron. After that point, the iron and I became very well acquainted.

Fast Sunday Faux Pas

I really like this gag. It's a collaboration between Eric and Ava V. and Jena L.

Two of the three of them have contributed to this blog before (here and here), and while I liked their previous jokes, this one is by far my favorite. Clearly, the comic genius in the bunch is the nine-year-old Ava V.

P-Day

About the only day of rest for missionaries is P-Day. (Sunday--as with many Latter-day Saints--is definitely not a day of rest.) But missionaries usually end up cramming about two times as much activity into P-Day as they probably should. As a result, they're more tired after P-Day than before. It's a vicious cycle that usually ends only after they come home.

Daylight Standard Time Meet Mormon Standard Time

Just a reminder, please set your clocks back an hour this Saturday (except for any Arizona readers, you guys continue on).

Years ago I inherited a "smart" alarm clock from my father. The clock automatically sets itself at the beginning and end of Daylight Savings. The problem is, the clock was manufactured before 2005. That was the year that congress passed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 which--among other things--moved the start of Daylight Savings up a couple of weeks in the spring and moved the end of the Daylight Savings back a week in the fall.

The result of the these changes is an alarm clock that moves up and back on the wrong dates. This was a particular problem for me when I had a calling in my ward that required me to make early morning Sunday meetings. Inevitable, I'd show up early one Sunday in the spring and late one Sunday in the fall.
