Mormon Mother's Day Excuse

The previous stake I lived in consistently had stake conference on the first weekend of May. That meant that fast Sunday was moved every year to the second Sunday of May which, as you know, is Mother's Day. The poor Stake Presidency got a lot of flack for that. What I didn't know then, but do know now is that the Stake Presidency has no say in when stake conference is held. That comes from Church headquarters.

  1. The stake president does, however, have control over whether fast Sunday is before or after Stake Conference. :)

    1. Great point. Does that mean I should be angry with the Stake Presidency again?

  2. No, just disappointed that they would assume you would want an easy out. :-)

  3. Of course, this problem doesn't arise for UK stakes - we celebrate Mother's Day earlier in the year!

  4. That is no excuse. We never make breakfast in bed. EVER!
