The MTC Choir

Ah, the MTC Choir: the sure way to guarantee a good seat at any devotional. And if you're lucky, you might just get a ticket to General Conference out of it.

I never participated in the MTC Choir during my eight week stay. Pity, President Hinckley spoke to us.

Sweet Hour of Prayer

An hour of prayer does seem a bit extreme, doesn't it? I'd loose feeling in my legs after twenty minutes or so.

The MTC Zone

As missionaries often put it: "Days seem like weeks and weeks seem like days in the MTC."

Pioneer Stories

Of course these stories are just the start of the exaggerations men are prone to share when they get together to reflect on the good old days. Included in their tall tales are the following:

"After I carried the entire company across a frozen river, I then went back and carried their teams of oxen too."

"My handcart was in such bad shape that I dragged it without wheels the last 400 miles."

"I don't even like crickets."

P-Day Letter Home

For many missionaries, P-Day is entirely too short to write a letter home. This often results in messages like this one.

Walking Distance

The term walking distance probably meant something different to Brigham Young than it does to you or me.

MTC Job

Poor Brother Love, he should have tried selling alarm systems or solar energy.

I filled in for an MTC teacher as a long term sub for about two weeks shortly after returning home from my mission. It was great experience, but within those two weeks, I realized that it was still just a job.

Canoe Water Fight

No scout camp/girls camp/youth conference is worth its salt if it doesn't include at least one epic canoe water fight. Unfortunately for me, the last couple such events I've attended as a leader have ended with my canoe sinking to the bottom of the lake and me enjoying a refreshing dunk in ice cold water.

Maybe it's time to consider my retirement from such activities...

Weight Gain Worries Resolved

Looks like Elder Strong has worked through all his weight gain concerns. Now he can go back to enjoying all the bounties the MTC cafeteria has to offer.
