Generational Gap

As far as the Book of Mormon goes, generations are counted about once ever one hundred years. Today, we throw them out all willy-nilly every couple of years. Right now we've got the Silent Generation, the Baby Boomers, Generation X,* Millennials, and Generation Z all roaming around the country.** If there had been this many population groups in Nephi's time, people would have had to lived as long as Methuselah!

*They should have just stopped naming generations after Gen-X. I mean, you're not getting a cooler name than that.

**And this doesn't even count the group of kids born after 2012 who haven't even been given a generational name yet.

Birthday Gifts

I still feel the same way. (At least, I'm no longer getting acne cream as a gift.)

Moroni Play

At our home, we try to limit screen time on Sundays. In that way, we hope to set it apart from the rest of the week. Unfortunately, the lack of external stimuli often results in scenes like the one represented in today's comic. Perhaps if I called it Captain Moroni play, I wouldn't feel so bad about it...

Not Your Day

Some days on your mission, things just don't work out for you. My second birthday as a missionary certainly felt like that. The day began with some guy accosting us arguing that we didn't worship on the Sabbath. That was followed by 12 hours of rejection as we had no appointments and filled our time by knocking on doors.

Still I came home to our apartment that night content that I had worked diligently (if not smartly) for the Lord.

Brother of Jared's Idea

Have you ever wondered what cartoonists did when they wanted to represent someone having an "eureka" moment prior to the invention of the light bulb? Fortunately for Jaredite cartoonists, they had a replacement.

Rest Hymn Versus Power Nap

This guy is right: rest hymns are, by and large, way too short. Especially those sung at the hour mark during General Conference. For me, it is not about power naps but stopping by the bathroom, making a sandwich, and checking the scores. How am I supposed to do all of that during four verses of "The Spirit of God"?

(You may notice a lack of facemasks in today's comic. This is not at all a political statement. Rather I simply have grown tired of drawing them and since the observation in today's gag has nothing to do with the pandemic we find ourselves in, I opted to go without.)

Birthday Breakfast

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend. Here Elder Van Dyke is trying to enjoy another celebration. (It's not going well.)

Kevin Beckstrom is sharing his comprehensive General Conference notes on his website. They'll make you wish you kept notes half as entertaining. Check them out on his website.
