Had my older brothers been serious scriptorians growing up, I probably would have been the butt of this joke many, many times.

It's just like older siblings to read their kid brother's private journal. Even though (and this is pure speculation), Nephi probably clearly carved on the cover "Private property of Nephi--Keep OUT!" (Mormon would have opted to omit that little bit in his abridgment.)*

*This is all possible as Nephi began recording his large plates before separating from his brothers. The small plates didn't come until after the Nephites and Lamanites had split.
