Yep, today's gag is a groan-worthy pun! In my defense, not only am I a cartoonist, but I am also a dad.

Hopefully, you are as excited for General Conference as I am. I suspect we could all use a little uplift these days.

Prison Break!

It's been a couple of years since I featured this particular missionary companionship. I figured it's about time to dust them off.

The next time a Deacons' Quorum Advisor wants to organize a temple trip, try telling the boys that you're planning a spirit prison break and want their help and I guarantee that you'll get great participation.

I was a little disappointed that none of my comic book loving readers commented on the numerous Easter eggs I left in last week's comic. Maybe my comic strip loving readers can identify what's significant about Apartment 3-G.

Publicans Verses Republicans

Today's gag is likely as political as I'll ever get on this blog. I do wonder, though, if publicans will soon be more popular than republicans given Donald Trump's boorish behavior.

And now that I've effectively lost half of my readership with the previous sentence, I'll quickly change the subject.

This is the fifth gag featuring this particular set of missionaries. I feel like I should give the two of them names that match the philosophical and skeptic nature of the pair. But seeing as how Calvin and Hobbs are already taken, I'll have to keep working on that.

It's time once again to return to the deeply philosophical missionary and his companion who can barely tolerate him.

Become as a Little Child

Today's gag is the third such gag to feature this philosophizing Elder and the companion that has to put up with all his deep questions. I'm sure there will be more to follow. After all, who hasn't had such a companion during his or her mission?

Jury Duty

Here's a deep thought for you to ponder as you prepare for General Conference.

And speaking of General Conference, here's a little programming note for the half dozen of you who care: For the first time in six and a half years, I won't be producing a General Conference recap packet this conference. I've got a crazy busy schedule on the days immediately following General Conference and there is no possible way I can get to it. Thanks for your understanding.

Look to the Prophets not Profits

Ah, the silly mix-up between prophet and profit. If only the missionary in this gag could read his speech bubble, the difference in spelling might clue him into the answer to his question. Of course, the moment characters in comic strips become self-aware; we're facing a cartoon uprising.*

*Not nearly as likely as the computer uprising, the pet uprising, or the appliance uprising.**
