Dangerous Speaking Assignment

Originally, the caption for today's gag read: "Suddenly, I'm much more anxious to give my talk in sacrament meeting this coming Sunday." And then I realized that: 1) there was no sacrament for another 39 years and 2) the Nephites would have still been worshiping on Saturday not Sunday at this time.

Historical Accuracy: Something we here at the Mormon Cartoonist pride ourselves on since 2009!*

*Although, I should disclose that most people during the time of Samuel the Lamanite had five not four fingers on each hand.

High on the City Wall

We know frustratingly little about Samuel the Lamanite. He shows up, delivers a sermon, dodges some arrows, and then disappears never to be seen again. I wish we knew about his conversion, more of his ministry, and what he did after the Zarahemla city wall. I certainly hope he was alive five years later when his prophesied signs of Christ's birth emerged. I imagine his living another 34 years after than and seeing the resurrected Christ visit his people could certainly be within the realm of possibility. Sadly, we know none of that.
