Another Podcast

It's the beginning of the year. That means there should be several dozen more Come, Follow Me podcasts to choose from. At this rate of growth, by the year 2050 every member of Church will have his or her own podcast--better start practicing your radio voices now.

Whole Wheat

Today's gag corresponds with this week's Come, Follow Me lesson. I truly sympathize with folks who have allergies or otherwise can't enjoy certain foods. As bad as dietary restrictions may be, I'm pretty sure they will have no impact in our standing with the Lord.

"New" Testament

The marketing team behind the New Testament certainly have done their job. Maybe when we get good at following Christ's teachings to love your enemies, judge not, and  turn the other cheek (just to name a few); we won't have to consider the doctrine "new." Until then, we'll keep practicing and keep calling it "new."

And thus concludes your Ward Cartoonist Come, Follow Me lesson for the week. (For further resources, check out the New Testament Come, Follow Me Activity Book.)

Forgive All Men

This might be the only scripture offended parties need to memorize too.

Today's gag matches up nicely with next week's Come, Follow Me curriculum. You know what else matches up nicely with the Come, Follow Me curriculum? My weekly activity page newsletter. If you have young kids at home or teach primary and haven't yet subscribed, you are missing out on a great resource. Enroll in the newsletter here.

Coach Speak

I think I prefer this type of coach speak over the kind of coach that threatens to bite kneecaps. (But that could just be me.)

Remarkably, Cedar Fort keeps inviting me back to guest host their Come, Follow Me with David Ridges podcast. You can listen to my discussion on Doctrine and Covenants 6-9 here.

Back to School

I figure I'd better get this back to school gag published before school gets shut down...

Hey, remember a couple of weeks ago when I told you about Ceder Fort Publishing's Come, Follow Me podcast? You know, the one they inexplicitly let me guest host? Well I hosted another episode. This time I covered the chapters on Samuel the Lamanite. Check it out here (it's episode 13).

Pride Cycle

Speaking of the pride cycle, the book of Helaman in the Book of Mormon is full of examples of a people getting spun through the pride cycle. Incidentally, Helaman 1-6 is the course of study next week for Come, Follow Me.

The good folks at Cedar Fort Publishing (the publishers of such fine work as the Scripture Power Activity Book) have began a podcast were various numbers of their authors take a deep dive into each week's Come, Follow Me lesson. It just so happens that I was asked to offer commentary on Helaman 1-6. You can find the thoughts of scripturians, seminary teachers, and historians all over the internet on these chapters, but this might be the only place online you'll get a cartoonist's insight! Check it out here (I'm episode 11).

Alma's Conversion

Come, Follow Me has been a great resource for my family during COVID-19. We've been holding weekly lessons since the program began last year, but they've taken on additional importance while we worship from home. Today's comic corresponds to this week's lesson.*

I'm sure that the cardiovascular workout that was carrying Alma to the household of his father later played a role in Ammon's feats of strength when defending Lamoni's sheep.

(Incidentally, if you want an activity page that corresponds to each and every lesson delivered to your inbox every Friday morning, you should subscribe to the Come, Follow Me Weekly Activity Page Newsletter. The puzzles will entertain little ones as you teach their lessons.)

*You won't get this kind of scriptural insight from Don't Miss This.
