March Madness and a Major Announcment

While the BYU basketball team was sweating out an unprecedented 25-point comeback Tuesday to play into the NCAA basketball tournament, I couldn't help but think that they wouldn't have this sort of problem had Jimmer stuck around for an unprecedented fifth-year. Fredette's exploits at BYU were so legendary that he probably created a run on the name Jimmer among Mormon families. Shoot, if we'd had a son born last year at this time, you can be sure there would be a Jimmer Van De Graaff crawling around right now.

For the fourth consecutive year, I'll be running basketball-themed gags for the next three weeks to correspond to the NCAA tournament. It's a good thing ward basketball provides a never ending source of humor.

Are you sick of my rambling posts and wish that there was a way to just get the gags without any of my commentary (please don't answer this in the comments section), well now you can!

Introducing LDS Laughs: the Mormon Cartoonist app for your iPhone and iPad! LDS Laughs provides you with nearly every Comic of the Week since the inception of this blog in an easy to scroll through format. The app is produced by my good friends at LDS Mobile Apps whose LDS Coloring Book you really should have purchased by now* and I couldn't be more pleased with it. Best of all, the app is free!

Please download it now (and don't forget to write a glowing customer review afterwords), you won't be sorry.

*I've contributed over a half-dozen 12-page coloring books for the LDS Coloring Book app. The app itself comes with two coloring books for $0.99 after which you can either subscribe for $0.99 a month to receive a new coloring book every month or you can pay $0.99 for each additional coloring book your interested in. Hilton Campbell at LDS Mobile Apps has done an incredible job with the coloring book app. It's better than anything else on the market.

Win a Free Copy of the LDS Coloring Book!

Let me give a few more details about the LDS Coloring Book app for the iPad and iPhone.

Last week I mentioned a $2.99 price, the price for the app is actually $1.99. With your purchase of the app, you receive 12 Old Testament pages to color. If you subscribe to the LDS Coloring Book newsletter (look for the banner at the bottom of the app), you'll receive 12 missionary-themed pages to color illustrated by me (look for the Elder Van Dyke cameo appearance). Additionally, you can go to the app's store and purchase 12 New Testament pages (also drawn by me) for another $1.99.

Every month, the app will introduce another 12-page coloring book. Future coloring books include a Book of Mormon-themed book, a Church history-themed book, and an Articles of Faith-themed book (with an extra page thrown in for free!). You can purchase these coloring books individually for $1.99 or you can set up an ongoing subscription for the app and receive each additional coloring book for $0.99 each with the option to cancel at any time. Seeing as how you'd be getting two books for the price of one (with an extra penny to spend on whatever you want), I'd suggest you subscribe. Details on how to subscribe can be found here.

To celebrate the launch of the app, I'm giving away the codes for two free copies of the LDS Coloring Book. Simply leave a comment with this post before Monday, September 26 and you'll be entered to win. I'll draw two names randomly and announce the winners Monday morning.

Good luck!

LDS Coloring Book Now at the iTunes App Store

Until a couple of LDS guys invented WordPerfect the general public didn't really have much use for a personal computer. WordPerfect was a "killer app" that made the personal computer a must have.

Now some more LDS folks have invented the "killer app" for the iPhone and iPad. The good people at LDS Mobile Apps have introduced the LDS Coloring Book app.

I was fortunate enough to play some small part in this product. Along with the incredible Dani Jones (she's an Illustrator with a capital "I"), I provide the illustrations for the coloring book.

I've had the opportunity to play with a beta version of the app for the past couple of weeks and I'll tell you, it's definitely worth the $2.99 $1.99 asking price. Coloring on the app is extremely intuitive and everything functions beautifully--just ask my children. (The arts not bad, either.)

Pick up your copy today, I promise you won't be sorry.
